TUCSON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT solar array

Tucson, AZ

The Tucson International Airport wanted a solar plant located at the outer sections of the existing curved parking area. The 1.2 Megawatts of solar panel arrays spread over 26 structures. Since the structures were so far away from the system interconnect (between 380’ to over 1200’) it presented a distribution challenge. First detailed voltage drop calculations and intricate trench details were required to ensure proper feeder sizes and conduit routing. Additionally, the customer requested typically under canopy strips not be used for the lighting, so we designed the project with parking lot LED lighting mounted directly to the side of the structural girders for a sleek and efficient lighting system

LUCIDI DISTILLERY

Peoria, AZ

The historical Peoria Fire Station #1 was vacant and rapidly deteriorating. Chris Lucidi had a vision to re-purpose this historical establishment into a local watering hole as well as a distilling facility. Distilling spirits is a very dangerous process, vapors are created in the distillation process. These vapors can cause a lot of havoc if the electrical system is not designed for this application. Electricity and gaseous(flammable) vapors do not mix well with non explosive proof electrical equipment, great care and the correct equipment was required for this space. Much of the distilling area is a classified hazardous area due to flammable particles and gasses produced during the manufacturing process. Care was taken to install UL listed devices in the distilling areas to avoid ignition of any material used or produced during processing. The Owner further challenged us with his creativity, wanting to design and build light fixtures made of hanging mason jars. This created a classic look and celebrated the moonshine products from back in the day. The light fixtures incorporated UL listed devices and the jars were used as a non-flammable housing.

OCOTILLO LIBRARY

Chandler, AZ

On a limited budget and looking for creative solutions. The Ocotillo Library had a lot of needs and requirements. Their existing art installation and building’s general lighting system, which was required to remain intact, was a challenge. As well the structure of the building itself, with its large exposed beams and the rustic look was inconsistent with the direction of the remodel. The solution was to add a surface mounted, budget-friendly, linear lighting system. the fixtures were attached to the bottom of the beams and were shrouded with an architectural sheath for a smooth, clean and modern look. This allowed an increase in the overall lighting levels, something the space desperately needed, without the removal or expensive revisions to the ceiling structure and wiring.
